NMC 是一種介于UPS和網(wǎng)絡(luò)的設(shè)備，它可以從UPS獲得狀態(tài)信息并且發(fā)出指令。NMC支持兩種協(xié)議－簡易網(wǎng)絡(luò)管理協(xié)議(SNMP)和超文件傳輸協(xié)議(HTTP)以供使用者進(jìn)入。通過SNMP的網(wǎng)絡(luò)管理站(NMS)和網(wǎng)頁瀏覽器，用戶可以獲得UPS的狀態(tài)信息、發(fā)出指令至UPS并且通過網(wǎng)絡(luò)設(shè)定NMC。 NMC 也為不同的操作系統(tǒng)提供關(guān)機(jī)軟件。不同操作系統(tǒng)的關(guān)機(jī)軟件可以通過網(wǎng)絡(luò)連接至NMC，并且利用特殊的通信方式與NMC卡通訊。當(dāng)UPS發(fā)生異常以及用戶設(shè)置的條件滿足時(shí)，NMC會(huì)發(fā)出關(guān)機(jī)消息至裝有關(guān)機(jī)軟件的客戶端。關(guān)機(jī)軟件根據(jù)自身的設(shè)定進(jìn)行對(duì)應(yīng)的關(guān)機(jī)的程序，從而避免因電力問題而造成客戶端和服務(wù)器的不正常關(guān)機(jī)。
